Sukayu Onsen (酸ヶ湯温泉) is a hot spring resort with a history of over 300 years.
It is located in a highland elevation of 900m and surrounded by nature such as Mt. Hakkoda.
Sukayu Onsen Ryokan, the timber building is the oldest in Hakkoda area.
The hot spring was the first to be registered as the people’s recreation hot spring in 1954.
There are 4 large baths made of cypress, each filled with water from different sources. These baths has been used for a variety of health benefits. The highlight of the Ryokan is the large public bath named Hiba Sennin Bath, the bath of thousand bather with mixed bathing.

During spring, summer, and fall, trekkers and hikers come to enjoy the hot spring while skiers and snowboarders come in the winter.
(Access) It takes 80 min. from JR Aomori Station to Sukayu Onsen Mae Stop by JR Bus Mizuumi-go.
